Our story

The Marius is first and foremost a family hotel. Marco and I will welcome you and make sure you feel as good as if you were at home or staying with friends.

The Marius also is the story my career reorientation. After years working in a communication agency, I wanted a new challenge, close to my family tradition, to my roots use my passion for hospitality and care to take over a hotel which was looking for a revival. I fell in love at first sight with the Aydat lake, this unique place, both quiet and wild, accessible and surprising. Auvergne in a nutshell!

It also is a return to the family traditions: Marius is the name of my grandfather, who owned a café-restaurant for over 40 years in the centre of Clermont-Ferrand.
For over a year, we have been renovating the rooms one by one, giving each of them its own decoration and character. It is now time, even though all isn’t finished yet, to welcome you, with my team, to introduce you to our region and its magic.

See you soon,

Delphine

An ideal setting

The Limagne fault tectonic area has been inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage in 2018, and Aydat is one of the better suited starting point to discover it. A small tourist resort classified as “Pleine Nature” (full nature), it provides many activities around the lake and in neighbouring villages.
On the ground, or in the water, or even in the air, there is plenty to do around the Auvergne volcanoes.

Trekking, biking, swimming, sailing, most water sports, but also paragliding, hot air balloon rides, horse riding, all are available at neighbouring sites. You can also simply enjoy a walk in an exceptional natural site, wild and preserved.
Whether a family vacations, a weekend with friends, a company TeamBuilding, there is something for everyone.
